S.O.F.E. Adoption Policy

If you are interested in any of the horses below, we require a minimum of two (2) appointments before you can adopt that particular horse. Please be aware that your application, $25 application fee, and waiver must be submitted and approved prior to your first appointment! You can either email it to [email protected] or mail it. The first appointment is a "meet & greet" where you will meet the horse you are interested in, get a general feel for their personality, and if their trainer is onsite, you could potentially see their trainer ride them. The second appointment is considered the "working" appointment. This is when you will be able to ride, do groundwork, etc.

Disclaimer:
If there are multiple applications for one horse, the best possible home will be chosen. We do not honor "first come, first served" when it comes to adoption.

Available for Adoption

Ghost

Picture
Ghost is a 21-year-old branded mustang mare, who was pulled from Slaughter by Evanescent mustang rescue in Texas. She was quarantined in Kansas and then sent to SOFE.  She was rounded up by the BLM from the Antelope Herd Management Area in Nevada and titled in 2006. She has an old shoulder injury with scar tissue, we had our vet x-ray and biopsy it; the results were inconclusive, but we can only assume it is old trauma from either the chutes or injury from the auctions, she was cleared for saddle work. Ghost does exceptionally well with groundwork and was briefly started under saddle. She requires a patient and confident adopter that won't push her comfort level but is willing to continue her education/training. Due to her age, we have decided it is in Ghost's best interest to adopt her out as companion only. She is UTD on vaccines, dental, and farrier. Her adoption fee is $800 but will increase with training.

Andy

Picture
AK&CO ANDERSON YET (Courting Liberty x L&A Lapp's Kid Charisma) or simply known as just "Andy." Andy is a Registered Chestnut Morgan Gelding, he is 15h and foaled in 2006. He is Mr. Personality, he loves attention and being pampered. Due to Andy's history prior to landing with us, he is being offered as a companion only with potential. He requires an experienced trainer; he needs consistent handling and loves having a job and doing obstacles and tricks. He is UTD on farrier, dental, and shots. If you are interested in knowing more about Andy's history and are interested in meeting him, please contact us. His adoption fee is $800 but will increase with training.

Beauty

Picture
Beauty or "Momma" as we have affectionately nicknamed her, is a 26-year- old Standardbred gaited mare we received from an animal control seizure. She's 15.3h. She had given birth 12 hours prior to her arriving to SOFE and was severely underweight. She previously raced under the name "Saucy Shrimp." She is UTD on vaccines, dental, and stands for the farrier beautifully (no pun intended!) and loves being groomed. Beauty has no desire to be ridden and would be best suited as a companion only. Her adoption fee is $1,000 but will increase will training.

Vegas

Picture
Vegas is a 15-year-old, 14.2h, Palomino & White Tobiano Quarter Horse Cross. She is currently being evaluated by our vet and is not available for adoption at this time.

Senora

Picture
Senora is estimated to be 19 or 20-years-old, 15h Chestnut Appaloosa mare. Senora is currently in a steady groundwork program building confidence. She enjoys obstacle work: crossing bridges, wearing and crossing tarps and walking under/through archways. She is entering saddle work soon. Senora enjoys her training sessions and is waiting at the gate when she knows "it's time to work". She is best suited for a trainer or someone who has the consistent time to spend building her confidence so they can grow together. She stands for farrier, vet, and grooming. She is UTD on vaccines, dental, and farrier. Her adoption fee is $800 but will increase with training.
