S.O.F.E. Adoption Policy
If you are interested in any of the horses below, we require a minimum of two (2) appointments before you can adopt that particular horse. Please be aware that a waiver is required prior to your first appointment! You can either email it to sofehorses@gmail.com or bring it with you. The first appointment is a "meet & greet" where you will meet the horse you are interested in, get a general feel for their personality, and if their trainer is onsite, you could potentially see their trainer ride them. The second appointment is considered the "working" appointment. This is when you will be able to ride, do groundwork, etc.
Disclaimer:
If there are multiple applications for one horse, the best possible home will be chosen. We do not honor "first come, first served" when it comes to adoption.
Please download and review the S.O.F.E. Adoption and/or Fostering Requirements, Application and Contract! Please contact us for more information!!!

Mustang Mare 1*Being rehomed through SOFE*
3-year-old old 14.3h (at time she was purchased) Mare. Captured from Diamond-HMA (NV). She is very sweet and curious. Has never shown any aggressive behavior and is willing to learn. She will come up to you in the field for attention. If in a smaller area she will let you put a halter on her and has begun lead training. She stands calmly cross tied and will allow you to groom her and tack up. She gets a little nervous with her hind legs but has never kicked out. She is a little nervous but will stand for farrier when cross tied. She loads in a trailer and loves treats. DutchDutch is a 2017 BLM Mustang. She enjoys liberty work, is calm on the ground, an easy keeper, respects board fencing, and is UTD on her shots. She has not been started under saddle yet. She will require an experienced rider or someone working with a trainer to finish her training. Her adoption fee is $800 but will increase with training.

She lunges and round pens, lightly ground drives, stands for farrier/vet, has had her teeth floated and trailer loads. She has good body control and can side pass and bends nicely. BeautyBeauty or "Momma" as we have affectionately nicknamed her, is a 25-year- old Standardbred gaited mare we received from an animal control seizure. She's 15.3h. She had given birth 12 hours prior to her arriving to SOFE and was severely underweight. She previously raced under the name "Saucy Shrimp." She is UTD on shots, dental, and stands for the farrier beautifully (no pun intended!) and loves being groomed. Her adoption fee is $1,000 but will increase will training.
Mustang Mare 2*Being rehomed through SOFE*
9-year-old 15h Mare. Captured from Paisley Desert-HMA (OR). She does not like to be caught. Over time she will meet you at the gate but won’t let you get close to her unless you move her in to smaller areas or a chute. She has been tacked up about 3 times. She needs someone who will have plenty of time to build trust with her. She hasn’t master leading yet, but will run in to stock trailer for transportation. |

Senora enjoys her training sessions and is waiting at the gate when she knows "it's time to work". She is best suited for a trainer or someone who has the consistent time to spend building her confidence so they can grow together. She stands for farrier, vet, and grooming. BelleBelle is a Bay yearling, born on April 29, 2023 to Beauty. We are unsure of what breed Dad is, but she is going to be a tall girl! She is a blank canvas with zero negative experiences. As she is only a yearling, she is not broke under saddle and her new home will be required to provide this training at an appropriate age and time. She is learning the basics, walks on the lead line, is UTD on shots, stands for the farrier and being groomed, although she does get impatient. She is currently with a foster.
