S.O.F.E. Adoption Policy

If you are interested in any of the horses below, we require a minimum of two (2) appointments before you can adopt that particular horse. Please be aware that a waiver is required prior to your first appointment! You can either email it to sofehorses@gmail.com or bring it with you. The first appointment is a "meet & greet" where you will meet the horse you are interested in, get a general feel for their personality, and if their trainer is onsite, you could potentially see their trainer ride them. The second appointment is considered the "working" appointment. This is when you will be able to ride, do groundwork, etc.

Disclaimer:
If there are multiple applications for one horse, the best possible home will be chosen. We do not honor "first come, first served" when it comes to adoption.

Please download and review the S.O.F.E. Adoption and/or Fostering Requirements, Application and Contract! Please contact us for more information!!!

Senora is an Appaloosa mare, who is in her late teens. She is about 15.2 hands and is very intelligent. She came to us as an owner relinquishment with minimal handling/care. When she came to us, she had been living in a stall for a few years with no turnout. Senora is currently in training but not yet started under saddle. She can be pushy and tends to be a little buddy and stall sour. She is available to someone with training experience or someone working with a trainer. She will need someone with a lot of patience to continue working with her. Her adoption fee is $400 but will increase with training.

Ghost is currently in a training foster! Ghost is a branded mustang who was pulled from Slaughter by Evanescent mustang rescue in Texas. She was quarantined in Kansas and then sent to SOFE. Ghost is still very shy and is not sure about people but is making great progress and will continue under evaluation. Available to training home or trainer! Adoption fee is $400 but will increase with training.

Hope is an 11 year old 13.3hh Arabian pony. She is from a neglect seizure and is in partnership with Central Virginia Horse Rescue. She is green, broke to ride, but was getting "stuck" under saddle. She is currently being restarted to fix any of the issues that may be causing the issue under saddle. She stands well for the vet and we are working with her standing quieter for the farrier. She will need someone with training experience or working with a trainer at this time to finish her. She is cute with a typical Arab personality and gaits. She is very low maintenance and is an easy keeper. Hope is currently being fostered with the possibility of adoption.
